Author of life,

Forgive us for the stories of love and stories of hate we tell ourselves. Give us the courage to name these stories, and the systems of oppression they create, for what they are

Instill in us the desire to live the story you wrote through the life of Jesus of Nazareth. A story of self-sacrificing solidarity. Of love for the widow, the orphan, the stranger, and all who are oppressed.

Of healing where there is pain, love where there is hate, and peace where there is violence. Help us to live lives that testify to the story we are invited into through your son, Jesus Christ.

Amen
